【摘要】:Thetraditionalmethodofpreparingglazesandslurrieshasbeentoaddstains(pigments),stabilizers,viscositycontrolagents,bactericides,andsoforth,tothepebblemillbatchalongwithnormalbatchmaterialssuchasclay,frit,quartz,feldspar,whiting(calciumcarbonate),zincoxide,opacifier,andsoforth.Thismethodhadthedisadvantageofovergrindingsomeofthematerialsofthebatchandundergrindingothermaterials.Whilepartofthedisadvantagecouldbealleviatedbydoubleortriplebatching(wherethepebblemillwasstoppedatoneortwopointsinthecycleandoneormorematerialsadded),thepracticewaslaborintensiveandnotalwayswellcontrolled.Anotherdisadvantageofthetraditionalmethodwasthatitwasnecessarytothoroughlywashoutthemillbetweenbatchesofdifferentcolors.Anobviousadvantage,however,wasthatsmallcomponentsofthebatch(suchaspigments)werethoroughlydispersedinthebatchandeventodayitisnecessarytousethisprocedurewhensmallquantitiesofstronglycoloredpigmentsaretobeused.Withtheadventofhighspeedintensivemixersusingarotatingshaft-mountedimpeller,itisnowtheusualpracticetoaddpigments,conditioners,andsoforth,tothebatchfromthepebblemillandaccomplishthesameuniformdispersionaswouldbethecaseifthepigmentsweremilledinratherthanx201C;stirredx201D;in.Inaddition,thepigmentstendtoyieldastrongercolorintheglazebecausetheyhavenotbeenovergroundinthepebblemill.Itisnotuncommontomakeareductionintheamountofpigmentneededtodevelopthedesiredcolorwhenthepigmentisstirredinratherthanmilledin.Anevengreaterbenefitisusingthex201C;stirredinx201D;techniqueisthatasinglelargebatchofabaseglaze(forexample,clear)canbemadebymilling,andindividualcolorsdevelopedbystirringappropriatepigmentsandconditionersintosmallamountsofthebaseglaze.Inthisway,alargepebblemillcanbededicatedtoclearbaseglazeandcleaningthemillbetweenbatchesisnotneeded.Glazestainsfrequentlyaretreatedwithproprietarymaterialswhichassistindispersingthestainintotheglaze.1.1Inpreparingceramicglazesandslurriesforuse,itisoftennecessarytoaddpigmentstodevelopadesiredfiredcolor,toincorporateviscositycontrolagentsfordeveloping,orprovidingtodevelopthedesiredthicknessoftheglazeontheware,toaddmaterialswhichstabilizethesuspension,controlbacterialgrowth,anddevelopthedesiredhardnessoftheglazeonthewaretoallowmovingandhandlingbeforefiring.Whileitisconvenienttoaddthesematerialstotheglazeorslurryinthedryform,itisoftenpossibletouseslurrieswherethesematerialsaredispersedinaslurryandtheslurrythenaddedtotheliquidglaze.Regardlessofthestateoftheadditions(dryorslurry),thedispersioncanbedoneefficientlyandeffectivelybytheuseofahighintensitymixer(sometimesreferredtoasadissolver)andtheprocedureusedisdescribedhere.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
